Website Design and Development
Bring Back The Boom Box is an online music and culture magazine from Toronto, Ontario. I was hired, along with fellow designer Stephen Shaw, to design, develop, and maintain the website.
It was quickly decided by Stephen and myself that a content management system was necessary in order to allow the writers and editors to upload their own content to the site. WordPress was chosen as the CMS platform due to its relative ease-of-use for the writing staff. The site was then built upon the WordPress framework.
Website Design and Development
While working for 980 Marketing, BetOnline.com was the main focus of my efforts. I worked in part of a large team of designers, developers, seo specialists, and content creators to design, manage, and update the site.
I worked for several months on a complete redesign of BetOnline.com that launched in August of 2009. Once the site launched I was responsible for performing a number of daily tasks on the site, including designing and updating the news feed on the main page.
Landing Page Design and Development
One of the main promotions I worked on at 980 Marketing was the monthly UFC Fight Card Challenge. The promo required a basic informational landing page, with sign-up links and log-in box.
Originally planned as one-off contest, it was highly successful and I was later required to update the page to the latest UFC Fight Card on a monthly basis. These updates required the shuffling around of several key pieces of content on the page, which would change depending on the type of contest offered that month.
Promo Video Concept
This kinetic typoraphy promo video was a rush job developed in four days during my time at 980 Marketing. It was designed to fit into a redesigned website, and match it in colour, font, and style.
I handled all sound, video, and typography editing, and was involved in the project from start to finish. The script was written and read by Ian Van Den Hurk.
Note: Video is in QuickTime format.
Website Design and Development
This website was designed as a replacement site for BetOnline Affiliates while I was working for 980 Marketing. The goals for the site were to streamline a very outdated and content-heavy site into something that users would actually read. New features included a large, auto-playing, flash video area on the main page, and a more structured and simplified layout to the site architecture.
I handled all designing, HTML, and CSS coding for this website.
Comic Book Cover (Colours)
White Plastic is an independent comic book published by Legacy Comics. The limited edition issue zero cover was illustrated by artist & writer Tony Gray, and coloured by myself.
Colouring was done digitally in Adobe Photoshop.
Published in September 2008 (cover date Oct '08).
Website Design and Development
This website concept was designed and coded by myself while working at Monsoon Interactive.
The site was built upon a proprietary CMS and shopping cart system. The main goals of this project were to have a large news area that could be frequently updated by the client, as well as display a number of featured products on the front page. The site was designed to reflect the name of the company, and a mostly black and grey design was used to contrast with wide range of colours in most of the products.
Landing Site Design and Development
This landing site was developed to meet specific client needs regarding both style and content management. The site was constructed upon a proprietary CMS, and designed to look like a packing tag. As a landing site, the client requested a highly visible link back to the main site, and for this reason the masking tape styled URL appears at the bottom.
Skateboard Design
This design was inked over watercolours and acrylic paint on a blank skateboard deck.
This is a personal project.
Comic Book Cover
This is a cover for a conceptual comic book. The image was painted digitally in Adobe Photoshop from reference photos taken by myself.
Email Stationery Design
This was designed and coded by myself while working at Monsoon Interactive.
The main goals with this project were to maximize the use of school colours while including a large team photo. A navigation bar matching that of the team's website was also included in order to increase click-through.
Email Stationery Design
This was designed and coded by myself while working at Monsoon Interactive.
For this design, the client requested a prominent left-hand menu, as well as a focus on specific players. The name of the coach was also to be displayed prominently beneath the team name at the top of the message area.
Email Stationery Design
This was designed and coded by myself while working at Monsoon Interactive.
The client requested a "unique" design, and so I developed this pseudo-3D appearance. The design was constructed with the knowledge that since the email will rarely be seen in it's entirety, since scrolling will be necessary in all but the most extreme cases, the illusion of the design will never be broken.
Vector Illustration
This vector illustration was created entirely in Adobe Illustrator. It features two images of Dave Grohl (Them Crooked Vultures, Foo Fighters, Probot, Nirvana) contrasted with each other.
This is a personal project.
Digital Illustration
This digital illustration was created entire in Adobe Photoshop. The goal was create a photo-realistic rendering of a Samsung cellphone using nothing but digital tools.
This is a personal project.
Email Stationery Design
This was designed and coded by myself while working at Monsoon Interactive.
The design was intended to mimic the look of the client's website, while emphasizing the features of the hotel. A fake transparent window effect was applied to the top and bottom of the message area to add a sense of class to the design.
